FIRE FIGHTER I & II

Fire Fighter I & II training and certification is intended to be the basis for all future fire fighter certification programs. Certification is granted to those individuals who meet the required qualifications and successfully pass the written and practical certification examinations.

To meet the needs of the local fire departments, the Division of Fire Safety has developed a curriculum package consisting of Instructor Guides, Student Manuals, and Practical Skills books written according to the NFPA 1001-2002 standard. All materials are referenced to IFSTA’s Essentials of Fire Fighting, 4th edition.

Course approval information and applications may be obtained by contacting Becky Trapani with Division of Fire Safety’s Training Unit at 1-573-751-5302 or e-mail Becky.Trapani@dfs.dps.mo.gov.  A copy of the Division's Fire Fighter I and II PowerPoint program and related information may be obtained by qualified instructors from the Division of Fire Safety to teach the program in-house to their respective department after obtaining course approval through the Division.  At any given time, over 50 Fire Fighter I and II approved courses are being conducted throughout the State of Missouri.  Obtain a copy of the Fire Fighter Guide for Lead Instructors by selecting the following link.
