2005 Notice to Inspectors
The Missouri Division of Fire Safety must verify if
the amusement ride inspector has met the minimum qualifications, as identified in 11 CSR
40-6.060, before inspection documentation will be accepted. To determine if your
inspector has met the necessary qualifications, check our listing of qualified inspectors
or contact the Missouri Division of Fire Safety.
If the Division has not approved the inspector, he/she must complete and submit an
application and meet requirements set by the Division to be qualified as an Amusement Ride
Safety Inspector. The applicant must also submit documentation to determine if the
minimum requirements have been met. Amusement Ride Operating Permit(s) will not be
issued until the inspector is approved.
Minimum qualifications of an inspector are:
- Shall provide to the Division a resume detailing
inspector's educational/experience history; and
- Shall be at least twenty-one (21) years of age; and
- Shall possess a high school diploma or equivalent
General Education Development (GED); and
- Posssess a minimum of three years experience in the
design, repair, operation or inspection of amusement rides and devices; and
- Possess knowledge of the requirements of the American
Welding Society pertaining to the welding of parts; and
- Possess basic knowledge of the requirements of
NFPA70, National Electrical Code, Article 525 - Carnivals, circuses, fairs, and similar
events; and
- Possess basic principles of mechanical and structural
engineering; and
- Shall be familiar with nondestructive testing
procedures; and
- Possess basic knowledge of the American Society of
Testing and Materials (ASTM) requirements for amusement rides and devices; and
- Certified by the National Association of Amusement
Ride Officials (NAARSO) to have and maintain at least a level one certification; or
- Shall provide documentation as being a certified
amusement ride inspector with the American Industry Manufacturing and Suppliers (AIMS) and
meets such qualifications as are established by the Amusement Ride Safety Board.
