Effective July 1, 2005, the Missouri
Division of Fire Safety will change the process for written certification testing.
Budget cuts for next fiscal year and new overtime
restrictions which limit staff availability have left us with no other choice than to move
in the direction of regional certification testing.
Certification testing will now be scheduled in the
Mutual Aid Regions and test sites will be rotated within the region. All sites will be
selected and tests will be scheduled by the Division of Fire Safety. In addition, starting
in July, we will conduct testing for all levels of certification at the Jefferson City
Office every third Saturday of the month. We
will be consolidating classes for testing so that we reach the highest number of students
possible within the region.
It will be extremely important for departments to
register their courses with the Division of Fire Safety since the testing schedule will be
set in regions based on course deliveries. As
in the past, departments must continue to submit the Application for Test Date by the
deadline specified. Deadlines for submitting the required testing applications and
supporting documentation will be more important than ever to meet.
Unfortunately, gone are the days of accommodating
all requests for test dates. We realize and
apologize that this will be an inconvenience for some, but we must continue to deliver our
services using the most cost efficient method possible.
The certification test schedule and deadlines for
applications are posted under the Calendar
of Events and will be updated frequently. Pre-registration is required for all
certification testing.
