Re-Testing Instructions Each applicant for certification is given two (2) opportunities to pass a state certification examination. An applicant failing the state certification examination on his/her first attempt may retest no sooner than 14 days after receiving notification of failure. Visit the Calendar of Events for test dates and locations or contact the Division of Fire Safety office, then fill out the RE-TEST APPLICATION and return to the Division of Fire Safety. If the applicant fails the state certification examination a second time, the applicant will be required to re-attend the appropriate course before the applicant will be allowed to seek state certification for the level they are pursuing. If an applicant has not either tested or taken a retest within one year of the course completion date, his or her testing records will be deemed inactive, and the applciant will be required to retake the entire course prior to taking the state certification examination. For more information on the certification process, refer to the appropriate level of certification located on the Training page and the Certification Policy and Procedures Manual.
