The Fire Safety Inspection Unit of the Missouri Division of Fire Safety has been given the responsibility of creating a safer environment and minimizing the threat of fire-related deaths and injuries for our most vulnerable Missouri citizens including infants, children, mentally challenged and the elderly.  This challenge warrants the continuing development of a 'high-level' inspection unit.  The Missouri Division of Fire Safety is committed to working with local fire service officials and professional fire service organizations to reduce the threat of death and injury and maximize fire preventive measures.

The Division of Fire Safety has a well established Fire Safety Inspection Unit comprised of one Deputy Chief Inspector, two Regional Chief Inspectors, one Office Support Assistant, one Plan Reviewer and 17 Fire Inspectors assigned throughout the state.  The unit conducts fire safety inspections of child care facilities, long term care facilities, social service group homes and licensed and certified mental health facilities.  These facilities care for those who are most vulnerable and at a higher risk of injury in the event of an emergency such as fire.  Our fire inspectors strive to ensure that these facilities are safe for those in care and many who call them home.  Additionally, the unit conducts fire safety inspections of Missouri's fireworks industry.

The Fire Inspection unit conducts over 13,000 inspections state-wide annually.  We hope we can assist you in making everyone around you safe and fire free.
